DFO advises that the fixed gear herring (gillnet/trap) fishery for White Bay, Notre Dame Bay, Bonavista Bay, Trinity Bay, Conception Bay, the Southern Shore and St. Mary's Bay, (Herring Fishing Areas 3-9) will close at 2000 hours on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-043 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-065 comes into effect on May 31, 2022.

DFO advises fish harvesters that the opening date for the 2022 NL commercial Eel fishery in coastal waters is June 1, 2022.

Licences and conditions are available through DFO's National On-line Licencing System and the site location conditions may be obtained from the DFO Detachment offices.

The eel fishery will close on October 31, 2022.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2021-108 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-060 comes into effect on May 19, 2022.

Please be advised that the tolerance of the number of small fish caught and retained will be 20% of the number of longer fish caught for all herring fleets in 4R.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2021-287 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-045 comes into effect on May 4, 2022.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-025 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-044 comes into effect on May 4, 2022.

DFO advises Herring fishing areas 12, 13 and 14 for fixed gear will open May 4, 2022 at 0600 hours.

The Regional Director General, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region gives notice that Variation Order 2022-037 has been revoked and Variation Order 2022-043 comes into effect on May 4, 2022.

DFO advises that the herring fishery for fishing vessels using gillnets and trap nets in Herring Fishing Area 11 from Pass Island to Cinq Cerf will open at 0600 hours on Monday, April 25, 2022.

Please note that the Barr Seine fishery for this area is not open.

Fish harvesters are advised that dockside monitoring is a requirement in this fishery. 

Licence conditions are available through the National Online Licencing System.
